Cross Cultural Analysis

For all those interested in trend prediction its good to know about cross cultural analysis. This means looking at both cultures and industries and searching for similarities and trends that are emerging in both. It is said that if a trend emerges that straddles both of these then its likely to progress and grow.

A good forecaster will literally look everywhere for emerging trends. From fashion and style websites, books and magazines etc to wider subjects such as leisure, literature, architecture, music finance and even economics.

Through out history you can see how the world around people has influenced fashion particularly the late 70's/ early 80's when jobs were short, Margaret Thatcher was in power and people decided to rebel creating the massive and still evident trend of Punk Rock. Finding where these trends start is a forecasters job and this trend was almost certainly started or at least coveted on 430 Kings Road at the then named 'To Fast to Live, To Young to Die', more famously known now as Worlds End.
