Fabulous laid back style

Today while in the Tate Modern Art Gallery in London I saw this woman and just thought she looked amazing! Comfortable relaxed and warm yet stylish! She is also rocking the dress over trousers look seen on a few catwalks this season! And also the soft grey jumper is bang on trend for this spring, Love it!

Thea Porter London Fashion and Textile Museum 2015

I have just been to an incredible exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London, Thea Porter 70s designer and I have to say her designs have had a heavy influence on the current collections we have just seen on runways all over the world! Her early looks, and even a lot of her later designs, are heavily influenced by the bohemian movement in the late 60s early 70s. There are some amazing folk inspired elements which was a very pleasant surprise as I am researching all things Folk at the moment! There are lots of little tradional European elements slowly cropping up in art interiours and of course fashion! Keep an eye out for my next post which will talk a bit more about Porters life and more pics of her amazing designs!

London Town

So today I am off to London to catch a couple of exhibitions that I'm dying to see! I'm also going to try and pop to a couple of markets as the last time I came up with Uni it was a Tuesday and nothing was on! So as I have a child free Saturday I decided to have a 'me' day. I am also going to keep my Brady eye out for anyone wearing the 2 trends I think are going to be big next year! Let's see what I can find!

Style over Substance?

Most people will have heard the tragic tale of the 4 year old boy who was killed in a Hugo Boss store in Oxfordshire. Now this really scared me as I take my son shopping with me all the time (I have no choice!) and he has terrible wandering hands even when in his pram! So my question is should all shops be aware of the potential dangers on their premises?

I have never before thought about the safety element of taking my child shopping. I hate to say that this will make me look at the way shops are set out in future.

Nature styling

The environment is a massive subject at the moment it terms of science and preservation being eco friendly is huge and a major influence on our future sustainability.

Asside from all the serious issues the environment is trickling it's way into fabrics and prints. Interiors are bringing in leaf prints and plant prints for upholstery and appliances Giving everything a fresh spring feel.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Younghee Lee is a woman to be reckoned with! Lee is the Markting director at Samsung, the first female in this position.

Lee admits that Apple is the preferred brand of the fashion set and is launching a massive counter attack on their rivals.

Having been outsold by Apples iPhone 6, in her own words, the S5 was 'too similar to the S3 and S4" It also didn't help that the plastic finish felt tacky in comparison to the glass and aluminium of the iPhone 6.

During Paris Fashion Week Lee unveiled the new Galaxy S6 Edge at the George V hotel in front of some of fashions greats including Jared Leto, Conde Nast boss Jonathan Newhouse and Carine Roitfeld, for editor of Vogue France.

The S6 has a totally new design and performance. Its also thinner and litter than the iPhone 6, considered a piece of jewellery than a phone!

Lauren Bacall's odd art collection

Art works from the late screen Actress Lauren Bacall, who was married to Humphrey Bogart and stared in memorable films such as  How to Marry a Millionaire and Murder on the Orient Express, are to be auctioned at Bonhams auction house in New York next week.

The two painting one by former US Senator Ted Kennedy and the other by actor Henry Fonda.

The famous actress was known for her amazing films but not so much her love of art! Also in the sale will be 6 sculptures made  by Henry Moore who Bacall met during the 1970s when she was living in London.

Olivia Wilde H&M Sustainable Fashion

The beautiful Olivia Wilde, model turned actress who featured many years ago in the teen drama The OC has returned to her modelling roots to be the face of H&M's new environmentally conscious range.

The clothing range titledThe Conscious Exclusive collection is made of sustainable materials and is set to hit the shops in April in time for the Spring/Summer season.

How skinny is too skinny?

It has been a massive issue with the fashion world for a very long time. Designers using super skinny models on the runway and in ad campaigns has caused lots of controversy over the years. It is an opinion that these models are promoting unhealthy role models for the youth of today.

French Socialist Politician, Olivier Veran, is helping to inch France closer to banning super skinny models.   He has branded this trend as 'glorifying anorexia'. He has proposed that models be required to submit health certificates confirming they have a healthy BMI. The punishment for designers who employ those models who do not meet a healthy BMI could receive up to a £60,000 fine or even a 6 month prison sentence.

A number of countries around the world are already imposing similar guidelines. Spain bars models below a certain BMI from participating in runway shows in Madrid, Italy already insists on health certificates and Brazil is considering banning under weight models from its catwalks and Norway is proposing for airbrushed ad campaigns to come with a cigarette style health warning to help tackle eating disorders.

This debate has been on going for many years and until the main fashion cities get on board not a lot will change. If France imposes the proposed changes it will change the face of Paris Fashion Week for ever, which in tern will absolutely filter down to London, New York and Milan.

Modest Happiness

These images were captured by French photographer Rehahn, who spent 7 years riding around Vietnam on a motorbike. Vietnam the once war torn country is shown in a beautiful light, with Rehahn calling it the happiest country in the world.

The colours captured by Rehahn are just beautiful. The modesty in the the images is totally given away by the obvious joy in the subjects eyes.

I added in this particular image as it really reminded me of the colours and prints I saw in a lot of looks from recent fashion weeks! Absolutely stunning and perfect colours for the coming spring.

Mulberry News

For those a bit more interested in the business side of fashion Mulberry has announced its new CEO, Thierry Andretta.

Andretta has come from a high luxury background including Lanvin, LVMH, Moschino, The Gucci Group and Celine.

Mulberry are very much in the Fashionista's eye at the moment thanks to recent collaboration with fashion IT Girl Cara Delvigne.

If Andretta can bring some magic along side new Creative Director Johnny Coca it looks like nothing for success for the accessories brand.

Satchi

While on a recent trip to London me and a few girls took a little side track and went into the Saatchi Gallery. I have been to most of the obvious gallery's such as the Tate Modern and the Portrait Gallery but have never ventured here before.

I have always been very interested in the collection of Charles Saatchi who is famous for discovering Tracy Emin and of course Damien Hurst who I absolutely love! I saw his exhibition a few years ago at the Tate Modern and have to say, even though I am not a massive fan of modern art preferring the Old Masters, I was blown away by his pieces!

Here are a few of the pieces currently on exhibit that caught my eye!

Gold and Sparkle

While browsing Pintrest I came across these beautiful images and felt I just had to share them! The current issues around the world have given the Burkah a negative image and and while these are not traditional Burkas they have the elements of one. I am not posting this to be political or for any other reason than the fact these looks are beautiful. The detail created on these Looks by Abaya Designs in 2014 are stunning.

All I can think of when I see these designs is the scene from Sex and the City 2 when the ladies of Abu Dabi save the SATC ladies from the angry men and reveal the current Louis Vuitton line under their Burkas.

This to me shows that where a lot of people like to promote the bad side of the Burkah or to the tradition of coving up, calling it repressive to women I feel this shows that there are women who embrace this element of their religion and have adapteded it to suit them.

Savage Beauty

We last night saw the opening of the Alexander McQueen, Savage Beauty Exhibition at the V&A! It was a star studded event attended by the likes of the Beckhams and Kate Moss. Now I am not going to say to much just yet on this exhibition as I am seeing it myself on the 11th of April (along with Fashion High Tea at the Berkley!) But I will say this seems to be one exhibition that has caught the attention of the nation and I for one am counting down the days until I see it!

Purple Power pt2

Another emerging trend I saw hidden amongst the catwalks was purple. In different shades and forms but 100% there!

Throwback 70

As we all know there has been a huge nod to the 1970's on the recent catwalks. Here are a few key looks and below I found some original 1970's images which really show where the designers are getting their inspiration from!
